Have You Considered Your Ways? — A Study of Haggai 1
This lesson explores God’s call to honest self-examination and reordered priorities in Haggai 1. Though the people of Judah had returned from exile, their freedom had not yet translated into faithful devotion. They rebuilt their own lives while leaving God’s house in ruins—a reflection of hearts that had drifted without realizing it.
In this study, we examine the tension between intention and action, blessing and stewardship, comfort and covenant. We will consider what it means to “set your heart upon your ways” and allow God’s loving correction to reshape us. The ancient temple becomes a mirror for our lives today, as we wrestle with the reality that we now serve as the dwelling place of God’s Spirit.
This lesson invites participants into thoughtful reflection, courageous honesty, and renewed commitment. It challenges us to ask whether our daily priorities reflect the glory of the God we claim to serve—and whether we are willing to rebuild what we may have neglected.
